IPL 2024 Auction: Delhi Capitals Retained Prithvi Shaw. Delhi Capitals have chosen to keep Prithvi Shaw, the victorious captain of India’s Under-19 World Cup team, in their lineup for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions. Despite a challenging performance in the 2023 IPL season, where he accumulated only 106 runs in eight matches with an average of 13.25, the Capitals’ management, as per reports from the Times of India, opted to retain Shaw at a substantial price of INR 8 crore ahead of the mega auction.
Shaw, who made his IPL debut in 2018, faced setbacks in 2023 due to a knee injury sustained while playing for Northamptonshire in a one-day championship match against Durham. Consequently, he missed a significant portion of India’s domestic cricket season. However, there is optimism that Shaw will recover in time for IPL 2024, marking a crucial phase in his career. With several of his contemporaries, such as Shubman Gill, making strides in international cricket, the upcoming season represents a pivotal opportunity for Shaw to showcase his prowess and solidify his standing in the cricketing landscape.
