ODI World Cup 2023: Ruturaj Or Yashasvi Might Be Called For Replacement Of Shubman Gill- Reports. The Indian cricket team gets off to a good start against Australia in their first Cricket World Cup 2023 encounter, but they are not quite at full strength. Shubman Gill, India’s opening batter, who had dengue a few days ago, is still out due to his health.

While there are still 96 hours until the match against Pakistan, the Indian team management will prioritize Gill’s health since he needs to be 100 percent healthy for the long competition. BCCI is also exploring alternative successors if Gill does not recover well.

According to a recent report from Indian Express, the board is in negotiations with Ruturaj Gaikwad or Yashasvi Jaiswal to fill Shubman Gill’s spot. Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, will continue to open for Team India till further notice. He has already been ruled out of India’s second match of the tournament against Afghanistan by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Before the game against Australia, India captain Rohit Sharma stated that, as much as he wants Gill back, his health comes first, and he would not be pushed back. Given the circumstances, Gill may have to wait a few more days for his ODI World Cup debut, and India will have to make due for the time being with Ishan Kishan.

Shubman Gill Discharged From The Hospital

Shubman Gill may be in a race against time to be ready for India’s game against Pakistan on October 14 in Ahmedabad. According to reports, he was hospitalised in Chennai when his platelet count dropped to 90,000 per microliter as a result of dengue, although a typical male athlete’s platelet count should range between 1.5 lakhs and 4.5 lakhs per microliter of blood.

Gill, who tested positive for dengue fever shortly after arriving in Chennai last week, has been out for a week and will miss India’s second game against Afghanistan on Wednesday.

While Gill was discharged from the hospital after 4 to 5 hours, he has yet to travel with the squad. According to reports, Gill is now recovering in a hotel in Chennai. He is not permitted to travel with the squad until he is physically fit for the tournament.
