Sri Lanka and Bangladesh competed in the 38th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 on November 6th at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Even though both teams had been knocked out of the tournament, the game held significance as pride was on the line.

Bangladesh’s performance in this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup has been dismal, with six losses in seven matches following their initial victory over Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka had a reasonably successful World Cup campaign, but they faced setbacks in their last two matches against Afghanistan and India.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first, putting Sri Lanka into bat. Charith Asalanka notched a century, while opener Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama provided valuable contributions as Sri Lanka posted a total of 279 runs, getting all out in 49.3 overs against Bangladesh.

In the second innings, N. Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan showcased remarkable batting skills by scoring 90 and 82 runs, respectively. The final push towards victory was provided by Towhid Hridoy, leading the Bangladesh team to a 3-wickets win.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, also part of the Indian squad, has contributed significantly with 442 runs, and David Warner from Australia rounds is in 5th with a total of 428 runs.
