Today’s ICC ODI World Cup 2023 clash between India and South Africa was expected to be a nail-biting contest that unfolded at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. This high-stakes encounter featured two top-ranked teams.

Team India has enjoyed an exceptional World Cup journey, with India’s bowlers and batsman both making a mark in the top 5 rankings. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been the driving force behind India’s batting, while Ravindra Jadeja, Shami, Siraj, and Kuldeep have been masterful in making the white ball dance to their tune.

India’s captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat against South Africa. During the game, Virat Kohli marked his 49th ODI century, matching Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in ODI cricket. This remarkable feat contributed to India’s total score of 326/5 in 50 overs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Shreyas Iyer also played a significant role by scoring 77 runs. Among the Proteas’ bowlers, Keshav Maharajh stood out with figures of 1/30 in his 10 overs.

During the second innings, the Indian bowlers showcased their exceptional talents right from the beginning, putting immense pressure on the South African batters. Ravindra Jadeja took a remarkable 5-wicket haul, while Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep secured 2 wickets each, and Siraj chipped in with 1 wicket. In the end, South Africa’s batting lineup was dismissed, leading India to a commanding 243-run victory.
