Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka has defeated Qinwen Zheng in the final of the 2024 Australian Open to successfully defend her title. She has now won the Grand Slam two times in a row and has further solidified her dominance in the tournament. In 2023, the Belarusian defeated Elena Rybakina in the final and this time she defeated China’s Qinwen Zheng, who was playing the first Grand Slam final of her career.

One of the most notable achievements of the Belarusian in her 2024 Australian Open winning campaign was that she did not lose a single set in the entire tournament, which, needless to say, is a great achievement. She became only the fifth women’s tennis player to achieve this feat after Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams and Ash Barty.
Talking about the final, Aryna Sabalenka seemed to be in no difficulty at all from the very beginning. She defeated the Chinese 6-3, 6-2. Aryna Sabalenka praises her team after winning the 2024 Australian Open
Aryna Sabalenka revealed that after losing to Rybakina in the final of the 2024 Brisbane International, she put a lot of pressure on her coaching team and it is because of their collective effort that she has been able to win this trophy.
“As always, my speech is going to be weird. Aryna’s team does this. I put some pressure on them after Brisbane final. We did better in this one,” she said.
This was only the second Grand Slam in Aryna Sabalenka’s career and she has a long way to go. She is currently the World No. 2 in the WTA rankings and might become the World No. 1 soon as Iga Swiatek’s performance in the Australian Open was not that great. She will now focus on the upcoming Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
