The Indian women’s cricket team beat Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the Asian Games 2023 final and won the historic gold medal. Sri Lankan women beat Pakistan in yesterday’s semifinal. The Indian women’s team’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 117/7 in 20 overs.

After winning the toss, India put up a good total on what would prove to be a tough wicket to bat on. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana scored 46 while Jemimah Rodrigues played second fiddle with 42. The Indian middle-order failed but a score of 116 proved too tough for Sri Lankan batsmen against the pace battery of Puja Vastrakar and Titas Sadhu.

It is worth noting that Women In Blue won the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
